Black Friday was still pretty productive!

On Snow

Friday, November 5th was snowy white across the region as up to 6-7" of snow fell in some locations at the highest elevations. However due to the fact that as many as 3200 connections per minute were attempting to hit HighCountryWebCams.com, HighCountryWeather.com and the dual ski network of SkiNC.com and SkiSoutheast.com – only about one out of every ten visitors were able to "get in" for most of the day on Friday.

After some fancy configuring by our admin team, we were able to deliver to nearly 100% of the content for those coming on the ski websites and our new HighCountryWeather.com website. HighCountryWebCams.com was still getting so heavily visited late Friday into Saturday that we were still seeing some slow downs.

We want to thank WBIR in Knoxville, Tennessee; WYFF in Greenville, South Carolina and WRAL in Raleigh for talking us up over the weekend. We suspect that WCNC Newschannel 36 in Charlotte did as well, because we saw a bunch of referrals via our Google Analytics package.

I guess a lot of you guys talked about us a bunch via your Facebook accounts because we picked up a ton of visitors this weekend from Facebook.com.

So all in all we saw 55,279 unique visitors on Friday and slightly less than that on Saturday and Sunday. We’ve never seen that kind of traffic this early in November so THANK YOU very much for making us a favorite place to visit via the web this past weekend.

We can’t imagine what kind of traffic we’d have recorded if we could have been seen by everybody who tried. We heard and posted some crazy estimates on Friday and Saturday but that’s all they are – estimates.

Please tell your friends, family and fellow ski, snowboard, snow and mountain lovers about us and we’ll do our best to make your visits worthwhile!
