A Quick Pause For Wednesday and Thursday

It is time for a quick reset.

After being able to ski and play for two days, Sugar Mountain has suspended operations for today and Thursday as milder weather over the next two days along with some underdeveloped snow on Thursday is in the forecast.

The hope is they will be able to crank up snowmaking operations on Thursday evening and resume operations on Friday, but Friday is an estimated date that could change.

Snowmaking operations all across the region have taken a quick pause as we had milder temperatures move in – we are seeing 40’s and even a couple of 50’s at the resorts this morning.

The milder swing will continue through Thursday evening until a front moves through bringing some rain and then colder temperatures.

When those colder temps arrive, snowmaking should start up at full blast with plenty of snowmaking windows over the next week to ten days.

On Tuesday, we did receive a couple of opening date updates.

Beech Mountain announced that they are planning on opening Friday, November 26.

App Ski Mountain announced they have delayed the opening date from Friday, November 19, and have not announced a new date just yet.

Today’s featured image is from App Ski Mountain. They are always posting some incredible shots from the mountain.

Cataloochee had previously announced they are planning on getting the lifts spinning on Saturday, November 20.

After this quick reset, things will pick up in a hurry (perhaps even with some natural snow).

That does it for today, but until next time, #ThinkSnow.
