Wisp Resort is slated to open for the 2023-24 winter season Friday, December 15 with skiing and snowboarding seven days a week from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

The resort plans to open with seven trails and a terrain park including Squirrel Cage, Sunset Blvd., Happy Camper, Possum, Grouse Way, Boulder Run, and Central Park Terrain Park. Snow Tubing also opens for the season, Friday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with expanded hours of operation Saturday 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Sunday 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Maryland’s only ski resort began snowmaking Friday, November 24 with a very productive five-day run. Wisp Resort’s General Manager, Ron Hawkes, commented, “Our Snowmaking Team was well prepared for the cold snaps that presented us with solid periods for good snow production. Even though we had some mild weather and precipitation this month, the additional natural snow of 11.5 inches season-to-date has helped to establish a solid base and create excitement within our staff, community, and guests. We look forward to welcoming everyone to the resort for a fun winter season.”

Extensive capital improvements in snowmaking and mountain infrastructure have contributed greatly to Wisp’s snowmaking ability and will continue to enhance the guest experience. John McCracken, newly appointed Director of Mountain Operations, stated, “The investment in 22 new TL8 TechnoAlpin snowmaking guns on key trails like Possum, The Face, and the base area provide more permanent coverage and open earlier snowmaking opportunities on connector trails and areas that require portable snow guns. Our long-term sustainability and efficiency plan was further enhanced this season with all state-of-the-art equipment, over 2,800 feet of new snowmaking pipe across the frontside of the mountain, and new lighting on two core black diamond trails; The Face and Squirrel Cage.”

Opening weekend lift tickets are $89 for adults and $69 for juniors ages 6-12 Friday through Sunday when purchased online in advance with up to a 16% discount off the window rate.

Lift tickets purchased Friday through Sunday at the ticket window are $109 for adults and $89 for juniors. The rate for Snow Tubing is $45 per person and tickets are available online. Mission Affordable 4-Packs of unrestricted lift tickets are available online through December 18 for $319.

Additional services and amenities available include dining, shopping, and skier services.
