This year’s has been one of the best ski seasons that the ski resorts in the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic have seen in years—and it’s not over yet! We’ve already experienced the fun of many of the most popular ski holidays, like MLK weekend and Presidents Day, but there’s even more in store for winter sports enthusiasts at many of the local ski resorts this season. This year, skiers and boarders can look forward to a host of fabulous Easter festivities at their favorite southeastern ski resorts. Easter, which takes place on April 4th this year, promises to be an unforgettable time at many of the resorts in the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic.

Wisp Ski Resort in Maryland
This Easter, Wisp Ski Resort Maryland will be hosting the Easter Bunny Jam, a fantastic event that combines the fun of Easter with the thrill of the slopes. During this fun-filled event, the competitor with the best Easter Bunny costume will win a cash prize. Registration begins at 1 p.m. on Easter Sunday and the admission fee is $15. This event will take place in the Pro Park at Wisp Resort MD.

Appalachian Ski Mountain
This fantastic resort in Blowing Rock NC will be hosting its Easter Extravaganza on Saturday, April 3rd. The day will begin with an Easter egg hunt on Strudel, Appalachian Ski Mountain’s intermediate slope, which will be open to skiers and boarders ages 6 to 12. At 11:30, children ages 5 and under can search for eggs on the grassy knoll near the Appalachian Ice Arena. One of the 1,000 eggs for which visitors will have the chance to hunt will contain a 2010-11 Junior Season Membership, so find as many as you can! At 2:00, those 12 and older are invited to enjoy the raw egg toss contest; prizes will be awarded for longest toss and biggest splash. The day wouldn’t be complete without pictures with the Easter Bunny and a delectable Easter brunch, so head to Appalachian Ski Mountain the day before Easter for your chance to participate in these great festivities.

The Homestead Ski Resort
The Homestead Ski Resort is celebrating the entire weekend leading up to Easter, from April 2nd to the 4th. If a traditional Easter brunch and Easter egg hunt with the Easter Bunny aren’t reason enough to attend, consider the other activities The Homestead Ski Resort has to offer, including horseback riding, touring Cascade Gorge, visiting The Homestead Ski Resort’s world-class spa, and simply enjoying the spring scenery at this historic resort.

Canaan Valley Resort Davis WV
Like the Homestead Ski Resort, Canaan Valley WV Resort has festivities planned not only for Easter but also during the days leading up to it. Canaan Valley Resort in West Virginia’s activities include an Easter drawing contest, a competition to see who can guess how many jellybeans are in a jar full of the colorful candies, an opportunity to color Easter eggs, a cupcake walk, and, of course, and Easter egg hunt and visit from the Easter Bunny himself. The traditional Easter Brunch will take place on Easter Sunday, and great events for kids will take place from April 2nd through the 4th.

Make sure you check with your favorite southeastern ski resorts to see what kind of activities they have planned for the Easter weekend. We’re excited to see the resorts open during this time of year, and we hope that skiers and boarders throughout the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic regions will head out to the resorts to enjoy Easter on the slopes.
