The middle of the week looks like a lot of fun out on the slopes.

The second day of the winter season has some cooler temperatures and even a few snow flurries this morning.

More importantly, the incredible snowmaking crews have had a chance to work on the bases and refresh the slopes once again.

We have ten resorts open as we slid into Wednesday, and most – if not all – were able to make snow in the overnight hours. The resorts will have the opportunity to resume snowmaking later today and into the overnight hours.

It will be pretty good conditions if you can get out there.

Here is a quick snapshot of the conditions for each of the ten open resorts is as we head into the day.

North Carolina
App Ski Mountain – App upped their slope tally to eight this morning and have five lifts spinning. They are playing on a 16-36″ base with a groomed surface.

App shared this sweet video over on social media yesterday.

Beech Mountain – Beech is holding steady with nine open trails and four lifts in operation. They are reporting groomed and granular conditions with an 18-30″ base.

Cataloochee – Cat is featuring a groomed surface today atop a 24-28″ base with four trails and four lifts in operation. They are in holiday hour mode with lifts turning from 8:30a-10p today.

Speaking of holiday hours, Cataloochee shared the Christmas Eve and Christmas Day schedule yesterday and included an awesome picture with the post (which also happens to be our featured photo today).

Sugar Mountain – Sugar was able to add a slope to their open tally yesterday as they are now riding on ten trails with four lifts. They have a manmade and frozen granular surface on a 21-61″ base.

West Virginia
Snowshoe Mountain – Snowshoe is seeing some flurries this morning to help set the tone as they are playing on 31 trails with ten lifts spinning. They are reporting a 30″ base with groomed conditions.

Timberline Mountain – The Davis resort is riding on 12 slopes serviced by five lifts today. Timberline is reporting a groomed condition with a 14-40″ base.

Timberline is going to have a busy holiday period with several events – including photos with Santa, a Selfie Scavenger Hunt, and Torchlight Parade.

Winterplace – Winterplace is featuring 12 open trails with five lifts for Wednesday. They are reporting a groomed surface atop a 14-40″ base.

Winterplace reminded us yesterday that even cloudy days on the slopes can be beautiful.

Virginia
Bryce Resort – Bryce is rolling today with four slopes and three lifts in the lineup. They are reporting a variable surface.

Massanutten – The ‘Nut is reporting a 22″ base with a groomed surface after their opening day part two yesterday. They are playing with three trails and three lifts.

Maryland
Wisp Resort – Wisp also added a trail and lift to the open ranks to bring their total to six slopes and four lifts. They are playing on a groomed and variable surface with an 11″ base.

Wisp also has a really busy 12 Days Of Christmas planned out through Dec. 31.

Tuesday afternoon also brought a couple of updates from resorts waiting to drop the rope on the season.

Canaan Valley announced that they will kick off the season on Dec. 24 with the tube park opening the following week.

Wolf Ridge didn’t provide an update on when they will be open but did share a picture of some of the early snowmaking.

The Wolf Ridge website still indicates they hope to open this week, but we haven’t heard anything further.

Don’t be surprised if we hear an update from Wintergreen today or tomorrow with a scheduled reopening date – things are quickly coming along for the resort.

That does it for today, but until next time, #ThinkSnow!
