Then there were four.
After a beautiful (albeit windy) weekend, we saw a handful of resorts wrap up their 2021-22 season, which leaves us with four open resorts as we head into the final days of the season.
Beech Mountain, Cataloochee Ski Area, Snowshoe Mountain, and Sugar Mountain all have lifts spinning this morning with really good spring conditions.
For the latest details, you can visit the Snow Reports page, but here is a quick snapshot of where we stand this morning.
Beech Mountain – Beech is playing on 14 trails with four lifts turning to kick off the workweek. They are playing on a 26-48″ base with a groomed surface.
Beech’s current plan is to wrap up its season on Saturday, March 26.
Cataloochee – Cat is reporting a 20-40″ base this morning with a groomed surface. They are playing on eight trails and four lifts.
The Maggie Valley resort is currently shooting for the last Sunday in March to be the last day of its 2021-22 season.
Snowshoe Mountain – Snowshoe is rolling with 33 trails and six lifts in operation today with 157 acres of open terrain. They are reporting a 40″ base with groomed conditions.
Silver Creek closed for the season following Sunday’s sessions, and the ‘Shoe is in their final week of the 2021-22 season.
Sugar Mountain – Sugar is riding on 11 trails serviced by four lifts today. With a loose and frozen granular surface, they are reporting a 20-58″ base.
We have not seen an exact closing plan for Sugar just yet.
If you are able to make some turns today, you are going to be greeted with some mild temperatures and abundant sunshine as it will be a bluebird day.
That will make for some true spring conditions. Thie week will be on the milder side for the most part, but it is looking somewhat dry with the exception of Wednesday.
It should be a nice week to get those final turns in.
