On Snow

It was a great day to ride at Snowshoe Mountain, the skies were sunny and crystal clear blue and after 11" of snow in the days before, the conditions were awesome.

The temp. at 9am when the slopes opened was around 4 degrees but quickly warmed up into the low 20’s on this sunny day. From all the fresh snow, there was little use for snowmaking, as it was only taking place on Cupp Run and one the three new black diamonds, Camp99.

Speaking of the 3 new black diamonds, I got my first chance to ride the Sawmill trail, and id have to say, it’s one of my favs on the mountain, a little icy in some spots but other than that, it was an awesome ride. The only downfall to this day would have to be the lift lines, no lines from around 9a- 11a, but just before noon, lift lines ranged anywhere from 10-40 minutes depending on the lift. The slopes themselves werent that crowded due to Snowshoe having 40 or so trails open…but getting on the lifts were a different story.

But all in all in was an amazing day to ski and ride at Snowshoe Mountain.
