On Snow

Hey All,

I was up at Sugar today and I was presently surprised when I rolled into the ski area and saw the temp reading 40 degrees at the clock on the side of road just before passing Alpine Ski center…..I was able to ride comfortably in just my sweatshirt and boarding pants, sans thermal gear!!! I am used to always having to wear all my cold weather gear when I board Sugar in February but not today!!! Got on the hill around 10ish this morning and it was not crowded at all, snow was in decent shape considering the warmer temps and it was actually kinda nice and loose…not a lot of ice that I could hear crunching under my board. which is something you get used to riding here in the south. I was able to get several good runs in within the 1st hour on all the trails from the top and then made my way over to Big Red and rode there for a bit, Tom Terrific and the other trails were in good shape and it was real nice to have no snow blowers going. The threat of rain was always looming due to the weather forecast I saw before leaving Charlotte this morning but with the chance only being 30% I took the gamble and it paid off – the weather was pretty darn nice and the sun actually broke through later this afternoon making for some great views and some nice afternoon sun runs!!! Overall – I was stoked to be able to ride today – no rain – really not a crowded day until after 2PM when the after lunch crews showed up. I left with a smile on my face…nuff said! Till the next ride…..

Ride for the Soul!
