Conditions at Massanutten were perfect spring skiing today on the 27th and 28th as Temps were warm and the snow was smooth, mostly packed manmade. Only skied green and blue with my daughter on Saturday. Will ski the top of the mountain tomorrow when she is in ski school.
I sent this report from a great little ice cream and coffee shop just outside Massanutten that has a free high-speed WiFi connection. It’s Nifty Fifties Dip N Grind. Yummy ice cream!
Sunday Update! With all the warm temps on Sat, it was pretty slick today after everything froze up last night. Very "crusty" and "noisy" was the comment from a Ski Patrol I rode with on a lift in the morning.
There was a local ski race on Diamond Jim all morning. Temps were 10-15 degrees colder than Sat, so a lot less people skiing. I doubt any waits were longer than 5 minutes most of the day. The sun came out in the afternoon, so it looked great but the wind was cold.
I hope they get Mass Transit open soon. (Editor’s Note! THEY ARE OPEN NOW!) The portable snow guns are sitting on the run. That’s what you can take from the blue runs to get over to the black run chairlift. Then you don’t have to ride the main lift that most of the beginners are on.
