Lorrie Tomlinson reported from Ski Beech:

Monday was a great day on the snow at Ski Beech. The roads to the mountain were completely clear. The wind apparently left with the MLK vacationers. The sun struggled to stay in front of the clouds, but it was a warm day with temperatures reaching around 50. Snow makers cranked out fresh powder last night and conditions were good. The lift adjacent to White Lightning had broken down (again) yesterday. At the end of the day, employees were replacing a motor on top, which will hopefully prevent any further problems with lift #6. When I left, just before the night session, the parking lot was almost empty. I wish I could have stayed for the night session too, but I was too tired.

Wednesday Update on Appalachian — With the arrival of natural snow, there was an urge to visit the slopes. Wednesday morning was cold and accompanied by some major wind gusts, at times. The snow making at App made it feel even colder. How many snow guns does Appalachian Ski Mountain own? Snow was blowing from guns every where and created a blizzard like scenery. It definitely was not a day to forget the goggles. With the cancellation of school, I anticipated a large crowd. The place was practically deserted and there was no wait to board the lift. As much as I enjoyed having the resort almost to myself, I was taught to share around age 2. So get out there and enjoy some great snow conditions.
