Glen Plake, (pictured left) is the national spokesperson for Learn a Snow Sport Month.   Glen is quoted in the winterfeelsgood.com website as saying, "Most people know me as an extreme skier and I admit I have done some pretty crazy things on snow. I’ve worked hard to be able to do some things most people can’t do or shouldn’t do. One thing I’ve learned during my career is that, first and foremost, snow sports are FUN! You can enjoy being outside in winter, have a great time with family or friends and get some exercise."

That is what National Learn a Snow Sport month is all about. Glen and all of the ski areas of the Southeast and Mid Atlantic would invite you to come out and try something new. Skiing and Snowboarding is fun, easy and great exercise.

Many states and state ski associations are part of Learn a Snow Sport Month and we’re doing our part to help get the word out – AND to help get you guys off the couch and onto the slopes! We invite you to pick a ski area, contact their ski and snowboarding instruction department and get a lesson.

Snow sports icon Glen Plake appeared on NBC’s Today Show on January 4 to talk about learning a snow sport during January Learn a Snow Sport Month. Plake filmed a segment December 15 at Camelback Resort in Pennsylvania teaching show co-anchor Hoda Kotb how to ski.

Hoda caught on so quickly that she was able to join Plake for a little fun in the terrain park.
