Here We Go!

Here we go.

After a mild Thanksgiving weekend, we are finally catching a break from Ma Nature with some natural snow and 24-hour snowmaking this week and it is going to be awesome.

It is safe to say our Ski Southeast team is stoked this morning.

As I am writing this, it is a grey morning with some light rain and just general yuckiness that is serving as the calm before the storm.

However, the rain changes to snow shortly after lunch today and temperatures fall steadily through the day. We could see some locations potentially reach double-digits by Tuesday night and Wednesday.

Bring it.

Brad posted an updated forecast last night with all the particulars – including who will see what as well as his outlook for snowmaking operations.

Natural snow and 24-hour snowmaking is a great way to kick off December after a blah November.

As Mike noted over the weekend, we are awaiting the reopening of Sugar Mountain and Cataloochee as both suspended operations late last week, and both will open as soon as they can.

Resorts we are also watching for possible openings this week include Beech Mountain and App Ski Mountain. While we have no official word (or even any inside info on this fact), I fully expect them to take advantage and crank up operations this week.

Stay tuned and we will keep you updated as we get resort opening announcements.

Snowshoe is slated to open on Friday, Dec. 4, and conditions are going to be fantastic for the opening weekend.

Our own Kenny Griffin is scheduled to head up to 4848′ on Thursday night and will be bringing a lot of great content. If you are able to get on the slopes (or even playing in the snow in your yard), be sure to send us over some photos. We would love to see you having fun in the snow.

It is going to be an exciting week. That does it for today, but until next time, #ThinkSnow and #ThinkCold.

Today’s featured image is from Cataloochee earlier this season. We are looking forward to seeing more of the same later this week!
