The featured photo to this post IS NOT a Live shot (obviously) but we posted it as a lead to the story because while it IS snowing and the snowmaking machines are cranking up around the region – the images from the LIVE CAMS are not great. (It’s dark and it is snowing!)
What MAKES these images beautiful is the fact that it is snowing AND snowmaking crews at various resorts in North Carolina and West Virginia have begun to make snow.
Snowfall is expected overnight and into Tuesday and we will update you in the morning as to how much snow fell and where, but more importantly the snowguns are roaring at the highest elevations.
As of this post (6:30pm or so), no snow making was happening just yet at any of the Virginia ski resorts or at Winterplace, but we do expect that to begin as soon as temperatures take the nose dive we are expecting across the entire region.
