On Snow

Absolutely purrr-fect conditions (sorry, I couldn’t help myself) were found at the Cat Thursday. I’ve been waiting for some good conditions, so with 9" of natural snow and 3 days of continuous snowmaking, I figured Thursday would be the day. I also figured that all of YOU would figure the same thing, so I expected a huge crowd. Boy was I wrong about that!! I got there around 10 AM and much to my surprise I was able to park in the lower lot. Nobody was there!! And the snow guns were off, even with temps below 32. I rode the lift with a guy from the ski patrol and he told me that the primary lake was low and they were pumping water from the secondary lake in preparation for more snowmaking and that’s why the snow guns were off. What a great break for me!! Packed powder and no lift lines all day!! Even though I didn’t get on the slopes until 10:30 or so, I made first tracks in many places all over the mountain. I had an absolute perfect day of skiing and even beat the MLK holiday prices.
