Darnell Atwater Shares a Trip Report for Hawksnest from Saturday, February 24, 2007

On Snow

Stay up to date by getting notified of new posts!

I have skied App, Sugar, Beech, Cat, Wolf, Snowshoe, and Winterplace among the south’s ski areas and I have been reading several comments about how nice the conditions have been at Hawksnest all season and I decided to give them a try.  This was my first trip to the Seven Devils ski slopes. I will be back again I can assure you and if you have not been there or if you have not visited recently, you should make the trip and do so!

I think that Hawksnest is now my favorite hill.  I like Snowshoe a lot, but Hawksnest is closer and I like the terrain there better than anywhere else in NC. Top Gun was in sweet shape today (Saturday) and I really enjoyed Sock Em Dog too. I am not a terrain park rat, but the hits and rails that they had set up all along that trail were pretty cool. (Not on par with App’s terrain parks but really nice indeed.)

It was pretty busy on Saturday and yet lift lines were not too bad all day. I made several runs down and then headed to the Nest for a couple of adult beverages.  After some refueling I headed back out for a great afternoon of skiing.

I would highly suggest that you guys visit Hawksnest soon.  As the Governor from California says, "I’ll be BACK!"
