We heard this past weekend’s Shred for the Cup event at Appalachian Ski Resort was an enormous success with lots of talented snowboarders and skiers showing up in each level to participate in the Big Air Comp. It’s really no surprise as Appalachian Ski Resort has had natural snow on the ground in Blowing Rock North Carolina for two straight months and the perfect temps lately have allowed for snowmaking almost the entire time. This past weekend’s event was the kickoff event for the Shred for the Cup series which offers competitions in big air, slope side, and a rail jam; the first event of the series was cancelled due to weather. In each series, participants compete in beginner, intermediate, and advanced skill levels and Appalachian Ski Resort stresses that the Shred for the Cup series is open to everyone. This series event celebrates its 4th season this year.

Big Air Comp Recap
The set up for the competition at Appalachian Ski Resort was on Appaljack, which is perfect for everyone; beginners and women took advantage of the small and medium sized jumps at the top, and the bottom part of the course, with its medium and large jumps, was what intermediate and advanced riders were looking for.
