And then there were three.

App Ski Mountain is set to join the fun as they kick off the 2022-23 season this morning. The Blowing Rock resort joins Sugar and Cataloochee with lifts turning for today.

If you are able to make some turns at one of the three resorts today, you will find some really good conditions as the mountain operation crews have been hard at work.

All three of the open resorts were able to make snow overnight – and they were taking full advantage.

Nearly every other resort continued to prep for their opening days by taking advantage of the cold.

The best part is we could see snowmaking continue most of the day and then pick back up today and through the weekend.

Pretty sweet.

Depending on when you check out Resortcams, you can find several manmade blizzards ongoing.

While we still await official opening date announcements (it wouldn’t surprise me if we see a few announcements over the weekend and into early next week), Snowshoe did announce they will open to the public on Wednesday, Nov. 23 with a pass holder preview day on Tuesday, Nov. 22.

Beech Mountain is set to kick off ski and snowboarding operations next Friday, Nov. 25 with tubing opening early in the week.

In speaking of tubing, Ober Mountain is set to host the annual Back in Blue competition and event tonight – it looks like a blast – before kicking off their tubing season on Saturday morning.

As far as today’s open resorts, you will find pretty solid conditions for this cold and beautiful Friday.

App Ski Mountain is playing on a 16-48″ base with groomed conditions. They are playing on seven trails – including Appaljack – with four lifts spinning.

Cataloochee is playing on seven runs this morning with three lifts in operation. They are playing on groomed conditions with an 18-23″ base.

Sugar Mountain is reporting a manmade and frozen granular atop a 15-40″ base. They are playing on seven slopes with three lifts.

The weekend continues to look fantastic as well.

That does for today but until next time, #ThinkSnow!
