Wednesday is going to be a return to mild weather, but it is still going to be a lot of fun.

The past couple of days have been a nice taste of winter, but we are heading back into spring conditions. I guess it is kind of fitting that the first full day of spring is springlike.

It was exciting to see and hear some natural snow showers falling on Tuesday morning at Snowshoe as well as in the North Carolina mountains, but the big story is the refresh that Snowshoe’s mountain operations team was able to do.

The crew at 4848′ took advantage of a 50-hour snowmaking window and set the stage for an incredible run to the end of the season.
Snowshoe is reporting a 34″ base with 27 trails and six lifts open. They are grooming the mountain this morning.

One quick note – there is a wind advisory for Snowshoe today which could impact the high-speed lift operations.

If you haven’t, the Snowshoe app is pretty sweet and will keep you updated on the latest lift and trail status.

While they weren’t able to crank up snowmaking operations, Cataloochee and Sugar Mountain are looking pretty fantastic this morning as well.

Cataloochee is playing on nine trails serviced by three lifts, and they are reporting spring conditions with a 22-52″ base.

Sugar Mountain is skiing on a 26-73″ base with a loose and frozen granular surface with 12 slopes open and four lifts spinning. The Big Birch lift will open at noon.

As always, you can check out the full report over on the Snow Reports page.

The sunshine will continue into tomorrow before we see some rain move into the area on Friday.

That does it for today, but until next time, #ThinkSnow!
