A Little Light Snow For The Last Day Of Winter But The Season Isn’t Over Yet

After the thunderous Thursday, we received a skiff of snow in a few locations to celebrate the last day of winter.

It was a pleasant surprise to see some light snow atop the highest peaks this morning. Beech Mountain, Sugar Mountain, and Timberline all received a heavy dusting of fresh powder overnight to help set the winter vibes.

Friday marks the “official” end of winter as the calendar flips to spring tomorrow. However, that doesn’t mean that the season is over just yet.

As we head into what is shaping up to be a beautiful weekend, we are going to have plenty of snow to play on as the base depths held up extremely well despite the Thursday rain.

For the latest conditions, be sure to visit the Snow Reports page as we update that each and every morning of the ski season.

A few notes from our look around the region this morning:

  • Unfortunately, Winterplace will not be offering a bonus day on Saturday as they have closed for the 2020-21 season.
  • App Ski Mountain will be offering the Midnight Blast sessions tonight and Saturday.
  • Ober Gatlinburg has closed the ski slopes for the season, but tubing is still open.
  • Timberline has announced a bonus day promotion with discounted ticket options for the remainder of the season. Operational status after March 23 has yet to be determined as of this morning.

The weekend weather is going to break the grayish trend we have had this week which means it will be a fantastic time to get some laps in.

That does it for today, but until next time, #ThinkSnow!
