The Wednesday storm certainly delivered and the snow is still falling this morning.

Up to a foot of snow fell in the northern part of the region, while rain changed to snow in the southern part making for fantastic Thursday conditions.

The Snowshoe Boathouse camera show a postcard view this morning.

Maryland’s Wisp Resort was the big winner as they are reporting a foot of snow in the past 24 hours.

The Virginia resorts received a nice little Christmas present as well. Bryce Resort led the way with 8.4″ of snow to help celebrate their opening day.

Massanutten is reporting just under five inches this morning, while it appears Homestead and Wintergreen received a couple of inches as well.

Timberline and Canaan Valley received just over five inches of snow, while Winterplace (which has reopened after temporarily suspending operations yesterday) is reporting two inches.

Canaan Valley has the snowcats out getting ready for prime time.

The North Carolina and Tennessee resorts didn’t see much in the form of snow from the actual system that moved through, but the Northwest Flow did kick up a few snow showers overnight and today.

Beech Mountain and Sugar Mountain received two inches of snow, while App Ski, Cataloochee, and Wolf Ridge all received a heavy dusting that will help set the ambiance as we head into the holiday period.

With all the fresh snow, conditions will be fan-freaking-tastic today on the slopes with flakes still falling.

There will be snowmaking as long as temperatures allow today and tonight.

You can check out the latest conditions over at the Snow Reports page.

Here are a few items of note from this morning’s report.

  • It is Bryce Resort’s opening day and it will be fantastic. They will be playing on four trails (Bunny Slope, Little Nip, White Lightning, and Bootlegger) open with three lifts spinning.
  • Snowshoe’s Silver Creek is set to open on Friday. In addition, look for more terrain opening up (including the Western Territory) in the coming days.
  • As noted already, Winterplace has resumed operations after suspending them for Wednesday. They are reporting 15 slopes with five lifts open today.
  • Most resorts are reporting a groomed surface today as is the norm, but conditions will be pretty sweet with fresh snow to play on in most locations.
  • It will be opening weekend for Canaan Valley, Timberline, and Massanutten with things looking awesome.

The best part is the pattern continues to look really good for the next couple of weeks. If you are out on the slopes today or this weekend, be sure to send us photos over.

That does it for today, but until next time, #ThinkSnow!
