With more than 50 open slopes, Snowshoe offers the region’s most open terrain for the Holiday Season
Snowshoe, W.V.- Snowshoe Mountain Resort celebrated its 35th Birthday on Friday with a cake presentation, pajama party and the arrival of Santa and Mrs. Claus. Governor Manchin also recognized the day, declaring Friday "Snowshoe Day" in West Virginia. Snowshoe has a variety of events scheduled for this weekend, and will continue to celebrate the milestone year throughout the winter.

On Saturday, Red Bull, Snowshoe’s energy drink partner, is throwing the resort another birthday party. The events will kick off with an evening rail jam outside the Shavers Centre, the only original building remaining at Snowshoe. After the "Hat Trick" competition, which offers a $1000 cash prize to the top snowboarder and will feature the debut of
Snowshoe’s newest Terrain Park feature, the festivities will move inside to the Moonshine Pub. There, Red Bull will premier its latest snowboard flick, "That’s It, That’s All", starring world-famous rider Travis Rice. Following the movie, Red Bull will host a very special after-party in the Connection Nightclub. The toga party will include drink specials and a packed dance floor.

Throughout the weekend, Snowshoe’s 35 Year Photo Retrospective will continue to be on display inside the Allegheny Springs Conference Center. The stunning display of 35 canvas-mounted photos features memorable people, places and events from throughout the resort’s history. The display will remain on the mountain, free and open to the
public, until the First of the year. Early next year the display will begin a tour of surrounding communities.

Snowshoe will receive the best birthday gift of all later this weekend as cold air and possibly some natural snow move back into the region. Snowshoe expects overnight lows in the single digits on Sunday, which means massive amounts of snowmaking will occur across the mountain. Snowshoe already has the region’s most open terrain, offering 52 slopes
this weekend. Conditions should be great next week, and it looks like Snowshoe could have a white Christmas with some significant natural snow possible early in the week. Some availability still remains for the Holidays, and there’s no better place to escape this time of year than Snowshoe Mountain.
