Maryland’s only ski resort opens with 8 runs, learning terrain, snow tubing, and more

DEEP CREEK LAKE, MARYLAND – Wisp Resort opened for the 2022-23 winter season Friday, November 25 with skiing and snowboarding from 9:00am – 4:00pm, Snow Tubing at the Mountain Park from 4:00pm – 8:00pm. Skiing and snowboarding will continue daily from 9:00am – 4:00pm and the Mountain Park will continue operations as regularly scheduled.

Maryland’s only ski resort began snowmaking on Sunday, November 13. Wisp Resort’s General Manager, Ron Hawkes said, “We are excited to be opening so early this season, and it’s all thanks to our Mountain Operations team who took full advantage of the optimal snowmaking conditions and a little help from Mother Nature. We look forward to welcoming guests to the resort for a fun season.” Eight slopes opened Friday including Squirrel Cage, Wisp Trail, Grouse Way, Bear Paw, Happy Camper, Backbone Pass, Sunset Boulevard, and Central Park Terrain Park. Multiple chairlifts and conveyor carpets will access the terrain for skiers and snowboarders of all ability levels.

Lift tickets are $99 for adults and $79 for juniors ages 6-12 per day Friday through Sunday. Weekend 4-hour flex tickets are $89 for adults and $69 for juniors. The rate for Snow Tubing is $44 per person for a 2-hour session. Mission: Four’dable Quad Packs of unrestricted lift tickets are available online at wispresort.com through November 28 or on-site for $259. Lift tickets and snow tubing tickets will be available online. Additional services and amenities available for opening weekend include dining, shopping, and skier services. The most up-to-date conditions, lift operations, and trail openings will be on Wisp Resort’s Mountain Report at wispresort.com. All operations are weather permitting.
