Winterplace Ski Resort Entices Families to Get Outdoors This January with Family Festival Weekend & Winter Ski Programs for Everyone

Families looking forward to kicking off January and the MLK holiday weekend with some heart-healthy fun in the outdoors can find it at Winterplace. Home to West Virginia’s Largest Snow Tubing Park, a variety of children’s ski and board programs, Terrain Park and fun-filled family events, the resort invites families to rediscover Winterplace and make some memories on the snow.

SPECIAL SKI & BOARD PROGRAMS

“SkiWee” & “Snow Explorer” Children’s Program (Ages 5-12)
Winterplace “SkiWee” and “Snow Explorer” Children’s Program is designed for kids ages five to 12. Priced at $130 per session, each program includes an area ticket, ski or snowboard equipment rental, helmet and on-snow instruction. Families can choose either a morning (9 a.m. – 12 p.m. or afternoon (1 p.m. – 4 p.m.) session. The afternoon session is only available Friday through Sunday & Holiday Mondays. The program combines the fun of discovery and the excitement of mastering news skills, all in a safe environment. Children are led by skilled Winterplace instructors. Winterplace Development Race Team (Ages 6-14)
Junior skiers with a need for speed and interest in some friendly competition can join the Winterplace Development Race Team. Designed for beginner to intermediate skiers ages 6-14, it concentrates on building basic skill development with a focus on entry level racing. It is taught in a fun and active manner by instructors with an expertise in junior ski teaching. The program goal is to develop better skiing skills in an atmosphere of friendship and camaraderie. JANUARY EVENTS
Winterplace Family Festival Weekend
Winterplace will host its 2nd Annual Family Festival on Saturday, January 21 through Sunday, January 22. Families can enjoy a plethora of exciting events for all ages including a Mini and Big Air freestyle competition at the resort’s new Heaven Holler Terrain Park, family ski race, snowtubing costume contest, Yeti scavenger hunt, face painting and even a chance to dress up and take a ski lesson with a variety of history’s most beloved characters. Additionally, guests can enjoy live entertainment at the Snowdrift lounge and a variety of food truck options all weekend long.

In addition to the Family Festival Weekend, Winterplace has a full calendar of events taking place all season long, from food truck Saturdays and Apres-Ski parties at the Snowdrift lounge to Throwdown Thursdays and Rail Jam fun at Heaven Holler Terrain Park. Snowtubing Hours
Monday, Jan. 15 MLK, 9 a.m. – 9 p.m.
Tuesday/Wednesday, Closed
Thursday through Friday, 1 p.m. – 9 p.m.
Saturday through Sunday, 9 a.m. – 9 p.m.
