This morning was a bit on the slick side as some light mist fell overnight. Combine that with the 24-30° temps and it becomes apparent why the Watauga County Schools called for a 2 hour delay for school today.

This bit of cold temps is the harbinger of another Arctic attack that is coming. The highs today should be around 38-40° and the low tonight will drop into the mid 20s which will crank the snowguns back up.

Thursday will be cold and we may even see 1-2" of snow in the afternoon and evening hours. Even colder temps will invade the High Country as the mercury drops into the single digits again Thursday tonight and that will create some freshies (a mix of light snow and machine made, powdery snow) for those planning a ski trip for this weekend.

The weather looks GREAT for Friday, Saturday and Sunday with highs in the 30s and lows in the teens and mid 20s…with SUNNY skies.

So let’s summarize:

A little light snow, great snowmaking temps, then LOTS of sunshine and phenomenal weather for the weekend. That SPELLS – s-k-i g-e-t-a-w-a-y to me. Make your plans and do this trip! You’ll thank me later.

CHECK THE SLOPE CONDITIONS PAGE FOR THE DETAILS TODAY…
