You’ll notice that some area resorts made snow, while others didn’t. Appalachian and Hawksnest were among those that didn’t and while it might have been borderline temperatures that prohibited it…it is highly more likely that the heavy snow in the forecast had them idle last night!
Here’s some happenings around the area today!
Appalachian – Sign up for a 2005-2006 Season Pass now, and ski the rest of the 04/05 season for free!
Cataloochee – Today is an exciting day there at Cataloochee. We welcome Oldies 96.5 radio and the morning team Ken and Tammy for a live remote from 11 – 1pm. Also Ski Country Sports of Asheville will be holding a demo day in conjunction with the finals of the Ski Country / Cataloochee High School / Middle School Race Challenge. And also on Sunday will be our Monster Midweek Season Pass sale for $96.50. This midweek pass allows you to ski any non-holiday Monday through Friday day or twilight and ANY night that we ski for the rest of this season and for all of the 2005-2006 ski season! You do the math! On sale for one day only, Sunday, for 96.50 in conjunction with Oldies 96.5 – call in over the phone with a credit card to purchase or be here in person. There’s no reason for you to miss this great deal on great skiing or riding in the Great Smokies. And if you purchase on site here at Cataloochee, your name will go into a drawing for a $100 gift card courtesy of the folks at Ski Country. And if that’s not enough for Sunday, well, the Cataloochee house band, Carolina Sky will be playing in the lodge from 2pm until 5pm. What a great day it will be!

Snowshoe Resort – Snowshoe Mountain is 100% open this weekend. The big news snow and a bunch of it is headed Snowshoe Mountain’s way the next couple of days. The weather forecasters are saying the resort could received double digits in accumulation. Nothing better to begin March with fresh snow. don’t miss out on the powder.
