Today’s incredible featured image is from the talented Steve Skarupa from Snowshoe yesterday.

Light snow is falling this morning across the region.

The snow isn’t anything heavy, but it is enough to whet our appetite for some natural snow. Along with the overnight snowmaking, conditions look absolutely fantastic this morning.

Beech and Sugar received about an inch of fresh snow overnight, while Cataloochee and Wolf Ridge both received around a half-inch.

It’s a foggy, snowy morning atop Beech.

Flakes are falling in the northern part of the region this morning with a heavy dusting on the ground.

Not the quantity we want, but beggars can’t be choosers, right?

The weekend forecast continues to feature some more light snow – especially in the northern part of the region. There is still some uncertainty when it comes to timing and how much moisture is left, but we will keep you updated.

Nevertheless, today will be some great skiing if you can hit the slopes. Several resorts made snow overnight to help prep for the upcoming weekend and have a nice little refresh.

For the latest conditions, be sure to check out the Snow Reports page.

A couple of notable items include:

  • As I mentioned yesterday, Beech will be opening Southern Star and White Lightning tomorrow morning. Those two trails are certainly fan favorites and it is exciting to see the rope drop on that duo.

Cataloochee is having a busy week as today and Friday are Fire and Rescue Appreciation Days, while Tubing World is set to reopen later tonight. Also, they are also having their Adult League Thursday Night Racing.

  • Other than Beech’s announcement yesterday, there has been no news on new terrain opening but don’t be surprised to see a few resorts up their trail count for the weekend.

This snowmaking pattern has been extremely productive for the mountain op crews (#ThankASnowmaker!).

  • The Omni Homestead has reopened for ski and snowboarding operations today. They are operating Thursday-Sunday this season.

Our crew is getting stoked about the Ski Southeast summit which is four weeks away from tomorrow.

There is still time to get your room discounts and benefits (Free Sunday Lift Ticket and First Tracks!!) and you can learn more information by clicking here.

It will be a great time so come out and join us.

That does it for today. Until next time, #THINKSNOW!
