While almost all of the resorts in the Southeast have been fighting temperatures that prohibited snowmaking, Snowshoe Mountain in West Virginia has been able to make snow for more than 100+ hours since Thanksgiving Day!

Mother Nature has made their snowmakers jobs harder…but AT LEAST they have been able to make snow and lots of it. As of this morning’s snow conditions report Snowshoe boasts the most terrain open, the most slopes and trails open, WITH THE MOST SNOW BASE!

As of the writing of this story, while resorts across the region were showing temperatures already out of the snowmaking rangem Snowshoe is showing 28°! Oh yea…they made snow last night while no other area resort did.

Tougher Snowmaking Days this week? Could be. The forecast for the week ahead shows some milder temps.

Today Sunny – Hi 46 Lo 35
Monday Dec 6 – Showers – Hi 47 Lo 43
Tuesday Dec 7 – Rain – Hi 55 Lo 35
Wed Dec 8 – Party Cloudy – Hi 40 Lo 24 (Yea!)
Thurs Dec 9 – Maybe a shower or two – Hi 45 Lo 37

Then next weekend shows a chance of a Rain-to-Snow mix for Friday, Saturday and Sunday. That could change as there is change of patterns taking place west of us and it looks to be bringing the kind of consistent cold that forecasters have been talking about for weeks.

So THINK COLD and THINK SNOW and it will come…to all of the resorts in the Southeast!
