Spring conditions are here.

After a beautiful bluebird Monday, some light rain will be moving through the area over the next couple of days.

However, conditions on the slopes will still be a lot of fun as there is plenty of snow to play on.

Today will certainly be spring conditions and I know several people who think this time of year is the best time to hit the slopes – soft and playful snow along with little to no lift lines.

This is also a great time if you are wanting to introduce someone to the skiing and riding as there tends to be softer snow.

For the latest conditions, check out the Snow Reports page.

The main takeaway is that there is plenty of snow on the slopes and you will certainly have a great time if you are able to get out today. As I mentioned at the top, there will be some underdeveloped rain, but it isn’t going to be a washout by any stretch – you may even avoid the showers with some strategically timed breaks for a snack and drink.

With the totals on the lighter side, conditions should say in great shape throughout the week. Here are a few notable news and notes for your Tuesday.

  • We will be posting the full release later today, but West Virginia skiers and snowboarders will be able to ski free on Sunday, March 15 at Canaan Valley and Winterplace with proof of a West Virginia residency. On Sunday, March 22, the West Virginia ski free day will occur at Snowshoe.
  • Congrats to our own Joe Stevens on being presented the prestigious Bob and Anita Barton Award this past Sunday at the West Virginia Governor’s Cup.

I can’t think of anyone better to receive this award.

  • Beech Mountain wrapped up their Adult Race League last week and it looked like they had a great time.
  • Bryce Resort is hosting Winterfest this Saturday. It will be an awesome event featuring a polar plunge, Locher Challenge, and a costume parade. And of course, there will be pond skimming.

That does it for today, but until next time, #ThinkSnow!
