Snowy Weekend On Tap for Southeast Ski Areas

Weather

Stay up to date by getting notified of new posts!

Some areas are in store for some winter weather (snow) and some seem to be borderline this morning.  Right now, we’re seeing snow in the forecast (2-6” of it) for the North Carolina mountains and we’d expect some of the same for most other areas north.  However all forecast models are showing more light rain in the forecast for Nellysford, Virginia, home to Wintergreen Resort; and Massanutten in Virginia.  There’s only a 40% chance of light rain…so not anything that will mess up plans too much.  Overnight lows in the region will allow for snowmaking regardless of daytime precip.

Winds will be a factor as the system moves through as many areas will see 20-30-40mph winds and gusts even higher.

Canaan Valley, Timberline are forecasted to see some chances of light rain or snow mix…and snowmaking temps later each evening this weekend.

Snowshoe Mountain looks to be getting the bulk of the SNOW again.  Forecasters are calling for an ALL SNOW event there and 4-6” of snow is possible.  Some models are saying more.

Wisp Resort in Maryland will be getting in on the snow…with a mix early Saturday and more snow later.

Expect cold temps and snowmaking weather Saturday.

Until Next Time!
