SNOWSHOE, W. Va. – (May 17, 2023) – The recent record-breaking snowfall at Snowshoe Mountain has melted quickly and the resort is now just days away from kicking off its summer season. The mountain will be open 7 days a week for summer operations beginning on Thursday, May 18. The Raven Golf Club at Snowshoe is already open daily for the season. Snowshoe has also unveiled another action-packed lineup of summer events including the UCI Mountain Bike World Series, 4848 Music Festival, Yoga Power Retreat, Blues & Brews, and much more.
“Winter had one last curveball for us a few weeks ago but the snow has disappeared and now it’s looking and feeling like spring here on the mountain.” said Patti Duncan, Snowshoe Mountain President & COO. “We’re switching gears now and getting ready to kick off another amazing summer season. This year marks the 20th anniversary of the Snowshoe Bike Park and we’re looking forward to celebrating that all summer long.”
In addition to the increasingly popular Snowshoe Bike Park and the Raven Golf Club, Snowshoe Mountain offers a wide variety of mountain and lake activities including hiking, scenic chairlift rides, off-road tours, e-bike tours, swimming, paddling, and much more. Powder Monkey Lift Replacement
For the first time since 2006, Snowshoe will be installing a brand new chairlift on the mountain. Powder Monkey, a fixed-grip triple installed in 1977 as one of Snowshoe’s original lifts, will be replaced with a fixed-grip quad ahead of the 2023/24 winter season. The new lift from Leiter-Poma & Skytrac will increase uphill capacity, ease congestion in the Basin area, and improve access to the Western Territory.
If you would like to own a unique piece of Snowshoe history, the Snowshoe Foundation will be auctioning off 25 of the original Powder Monkey lift chairs. The auction is a blind bid format, with a minimum bid of $400. Chairs will be awarded to the 25 highest bids received with all proceeds benefitting the Snowshoe Foundation, whose mission is to elevate the quality of life for residents within the Central West Virginia communities of Pocahontas, Randolph, and Webster Counties. The deadline to place a bid is this Friday, May 19 at 5:00PM.
