It is going to be a grayish looking Monday, but there is new terrain to play on to kick start the week.

Conditions continue to be really good as we race into the new year despite a milder Sunday that limited snowmaking region-wide.

There is a reinforcing cold air shot coming later today that should allow for some nighttime snowmaking over the next couple of nights to help refresh the slopes.

Brad posted his latest weather update last night for this upcoming week.

When I was updating the snow reports page this morning, it was awesome to see resorts add new trails to play on.

Canaan Valley raised its slope count by double digits as they added 10 new runs – including Spruce Run and Old Canaan Curve.

Snowshoe also raised their trail count significantly as they added Camp 99 at South Mountain while the Flying Eagle lift section will join the party over at Silver Creek. Bear Claw, Buck Saw, Laurel Run, and Little Spruce will all open today on the Silver Creek side of things.

Other resorts have added a slope here or there to their total over the past 24 hours or so – including Beech Mountain opening White Lightning and App Ski Mountain opening to 100% .

Be sure to check out the latest conditions over on the Snow Reports page.

We are seeing traffic on the slopes be really heavy so far this holiday period, and some resorts have hit their capacity limits.

Massanutten has announced that they are sold out for skiing and snowboarding today, while Snowshoe only has Silver Creek-only lift tickets available from today through Jan. 2.

Wisp and Beech Mountain (amongst others) have shared they have been reaching capacity limits each day so it is vital to buy your lift tickets (and rentals) in advance online.

Some Social Shares
Our own Kenny Griffin shared this clip as he rode down Upper Shay’s to Lower Cupp at Snowshoe yesterday.

App Ski Mountain shared this sweet shot yesterday.

Speaking of App Ski, the New Year’s Eve Celebration is still a go with fireworks at 9:30p.

Beech Mountain shared that the 5506′ Skybar is open for those who need a rest.

Finally, be sure to check out the contest that Tom and the crew over at Ober Gatlinburg have going on on their Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/obergatlinburg/).

That does it for today, but until next time, #ThinkSnow!
