From the Ski Southeast family to yours, Merry Christmas!

Santa has made his rounds, so hopefully, you ended up with something sweet under your tree – perhaps some new gear.

How cool is the featured photo from App Ski Mountain?

After the adventures of the last few days with the weather, Christmas Day is looking pretty calm weather-wise.

The brutally cold temperatures are loosening up a tad as some resorts are checking in 15 degrees warmer than this time yesterday, but they are still in the single digits.

Friday and Saturday were brutally cold especially when mixed in with the wind chills.

Today will see the wind, but temperatures will be in the 10s and 20s instead of the single digits. Along with some sunshine, today is looking pretty fantastic.

You can check out the full Snow Report for resort and slope openings.

As Mike noted yesterday, this is accurate as of this morning and things are subject to change – especially if we see some of the rolling blackouts parts of the region had the past couple of days. It has been a whirlwind the last couple of days that saw schedules forced to adapt on the fly.

Several resorts do have special hours for the Christmas holiday to allow their staff to enjoy some special holiday time with their families and loved ones.

Places where you can ski and ride today include:

Appalachian Ski Mountain – Open 1p – 10p today with all ticket sale proceeds going towards building a new ski patrol facility.

Beech Mountain – Beech is slated to open at 1p today with operations going through 10p.

Bryce Resort – Bryce is set to open from 11a-7p today.

Canaan Valley – Canaan is open from 9a-4:30p with tubing sessions running in two-hour blocks from 10a with the last session starting at 3p.

Cataloochee Ski Area – Open from 1p-10p today. Hats and gloves will be required for lifts today.

Massanutten Resort – The ‘Nut is skiing and riding from 12p-8p for Christmas Day.

Ober Mountain – The Gatlinburg resort is opening from 12p-9p today.

Snowshoe Mountain – The ‘Shoe is open the normal 9a-4:30p on the basin with Silver Creek running from 9a-9p today.

Sugar Mountain – Sugar is set to reopen at noon and play until 10p today.

Wintergreen – Playing from 11a-9p today.

Winterplace – Open from 1p-9p today.

Wisp Resort – Wisp is operating from 9a-4p.

If you are planning on making some turns today, things are looking pretty sweet as the resorts continue to pump out the snow.

Canaan Valley, Timberland, and Wisp also received over an inch of fresh snow overnight to help reinforce that White Christmas feeling.

If you are currently in the middle of or getting ready to start a getaway to the mountains, things are looking incredible. If you haven’t been able to make a getaway yet, hopefully, you can make some turns soon.

That does it for today, but I hope you have a wonderful

Christmas with your family and loved ones. Until next time, Merry Christmas and #ThinkSnow!
