There are going to be some fantastic conditions awaiting for those who can hit the slopes today.
In most locations, it is a gorgeous early morning that featured a picture-perfect sunrise.
That is definitely a great way to start a Wednesday.
We are holding steady with six open resorts today, and all were able to refresh the slopes with snowmaking last night.
Here is a quick look at what each resort is offering today.
App Ski Mountain – In Blowing Rock, App is playing on a 24-36″ base with a groomed surface. They are playing on eight slopes with five lifts spinning today. They are open for night skiing, but please remember that online reservations are required.
Beech Mountain – Offering six slopes serviced by four lifts today. They are playing on a groomed surface with a 22-37″ base. It is just day sessions right now for Beech Mountain.
Cataloochee – The Maggie Valley resort is playing from 9a-4:30p on 11 slopes with three lifts in operation. They are reporting a machine worked/packed powder surface.
Ober Gatlinburg – Ober is playing on five trails (including Mogul Ridge) with three lifts in operation. They are playing on a 20-30″ base with a groomed surface. It is an early season hour day as they are open from Noon to 7pm.
Snowshoe – Snowshoe is offering groomed conditions on a 45″ base with 17 trails open. They are currently spinning five lifts (Ballhooter, Grabhammer, Powder Monkey, and Skidder) and teased the addition of Soaring Eagle to the mix by the weekend.
Sugar Mountain – The crew at Sugar was able to add Gunther’s Way and Big Birch to the mix to raise the trail count to 10 this morning with four lifts in operation. They are skiing on a 29-66″ base with a manmade and frozen granular surface.

That window, unfortunately, will close at some point today with marginal temperatures at night – we could see a couple of resorts refresh the slopes but it will be close.
However, conditions look fantastic for the coming days – especially with some resorts kicking off their season this coming weekend.
