Appalachian Ski Mountain wrote:

We hope to see everyone out at our premier event of the second annual Shred for the Cup series, the Big Air, which is going down this Saturday, January 5th. The event is open to riders of all ages and abilities, and will feature some freshly designed jumps of varying size in the Appal Jam Terrain Park. Participants will have 3 runs on the jumps, with their best 2 runs being averaged to determine their final score. Riders will be judged on style, difficulty, and variety of tricks. Don’t miss your chance to hit the nicest jumps of the year so far, have some fun, win tons of great prizes, and Shred for the Cup!

-Registration: 8-10:00am at Cashier Booth #3 (Lower Level of Lodge)

-Competition starts at 10:30am at the Appaljam Terrain Park

What do I need to compete?
-Registration form and waiver signed (Downloadable form here)
-Entry Fee: – $25 Pre-Registration price -$30 Day-of-event registration price
-Bib Deposit – $20 (will be refunded upon return of bib)

Categories:
The Shred for the Cup series is for everyone, no matter your ability level. Skiers and Snowboarders are judged separately, and the categories for both include:

Beginner:
-Getting Comfortable on the snow
-Can hit smaller flat rails and boxes
-Can hit small table tops
-Learning grabs and spins on smaller jumps (learning 180’s)

Intermediate:
-Somewhat experienced
-Can hit larger flat rails and boxes
-Comfortable doing variety of tricks on smaller rails and boxes
-Can hit some kinked/curved rails and boxes
-Can hit smaller and medium sized tabletops
-Can do a variety of grabs
-Can do some spins on smaller jumps (180’s, 360’s)

Advanced:
-Several years experience riding
-Can hit all variety of flat, kinked, curved, etc… rails and boxes
-Comfortable doing variety of tricks on all rails and boxes
-Can hit all size jumps from small to large
-Comfortable spinning and grabbing on all size jumps (180’s, 360’s, 540’s, 720’s, etc…)

The Shred for the Cup series also offers Ski and Snowboard categories for Women who want to ride as well.

Awards:
The awards ceremony will take place in the Snowcloud Room immediately after the event.

The Cup:
In addition to each event winners, points will be tallied throughout the series to decide the entire series winners in each category. The series winners in each division will receive the coveted "Cup", not to mention bragging rights for the next season!
