The fun continues on the second day of 2023.

For the second day of the year, we are going to have a mix of clouds and sunshine with mild temps to provide some playful snow on the slopes.

New Year’s Day was a little grayer than anticipated, but conditions continued to be really good and we expect more of the same today.

As I saw one of the resorts post this morning – there is no need to worry about the mild temperatures because there is still plenty of snow thanks to the hard work of the mountain operation crews when they get the opportunity to work their magic.

For the full conditions report, be sure to visit the Snow Reports page.

As a quick note, today is the observed New Years holiday so we are seeing a few places offer special hours (Omni Homestead comes to mind) while a few resorts have moved to their normal schedule like Ski Sapphire Valley which has temporarily closed until Friday at noon as scheduled.

Just something to be aware of if you are headed to make some turns today.

We will have some springlike conditions and temperatures the next couple of days – we could even see some 60s in some locations that get more sunshine – but the cold will return later this week.

This weekend is looking fantastic and we are seeing some hints there could be some natural snow to go along with snowmaking opportunities.

One of the cooler trends from the resort on New Year’s Eve was the 2022 recap.

Canaan Valley showcased the area’s beauty in their post.

Wintergreen showed off all its amenities and some sweet drone camera work in the highlight reel.

Finally, Wisp showed off the adventure on the mountain.

Pretty cool stuff.

It was also great to see content from the New Year’s celebrations at the various resorts as well.

Here are a few really cool ones.

Bryce Resort shared a great post showing some side hits and the great snow conditions.

Today’s featured image is from Wolf Ridge Resort – such a cool shot.

Speaking of great content, Mike will be providing an update later today that will feature pictures and videos from his trip to Timberline.

That does it for today, but until next time, #ThinkSnow!
