The new webcam network is paying off in HUGE numbers despite less than perfect weather! Since January 1st HighCountryWebCams.com has received 321,789 unique visitors and 3,422,731 pageviews…meaning that the average visitor is sticking around and looking at more than 10 different cameras!  Our winter network of SkiSoutheast.com, which incorporates our new webcam and www.HighCountryWeather.com  content has seen 4,634,931 pageviews and more than a half million visitors (582,489 to be exact) since January 1st. That sets a new record despite the fact that we’re not seeing a normal ski and snowboarding season.

We’ve received dozens of emails from readers about seeing our webcams shown on local television affiliates across the Southeast and Mid Atlantic!

Friday’s 5" of snow produced another 65,000+ visitor day. That’s the sixth one of the early season so far – setting another visitor record. Of the 65,888 of you who visited the ski network on Friday, 42,383 of you clicked over and made sure to take in the LIVE cam shots showing all the snow.

The traffic was so heavy at times, we did see a lot of starts and stops of even the highest rez, HD cams. We’ve got the best systems running these things, but they’re not intended to see that kind of traffic all at once! We’ll have to work on tweaking things since we’ve already obligated two more live cams to be installed next week! We’ll surprise you with those as we launch them!

More new cams are scheduled to go live in the next three weeks as well! Before you know it we’ll have the Southeast covered.

Be sure to pass the word that the conditions are GREAT at the ski areas and that you can visit the mountain virtually if you can’t be here in person! Of course NOTHING will replace being here!
