While most would not ordinarily think of the NC High Country as a ski mecca in the Southeast, the NC Ski Resorts have long been on the forefront of skiing in the southeastern states! There were once three ski resorts to enjoy in the Banner Elk NC Skiing area. However, Hawksnest Resort, located high atop Seven Devils, discontinued their skiing operations to become the largest NC Snow Tubing park, offering something a bit different than the other ski areas. Currently there are two resorts in the area that offer Banner Elk North Carolina Skiing and each has a wonderful Banner Elk Ski Lodge, as well. Both Ski Sugar and Ski Beech Resort are fun places to go Banner Elk NC Skiing and both offer something unique to all snow lovers! In addition to the Banner Elk Skiing that these resorts offer, snowboarding is also allowed on all slopes and ski runs.

Ski Sugar, located in the Village of Sugar Mountain, is the largest ski resort in the state and boasts the highest vertical drop! In addition to Banner Elk Skiing on a variety of different kinds of trails and slopes, Ski Sugar Resort also offers ice skating, snow tubing, snow shoeing and a fantastic Banner Elk Ski Lodge where you can rest and nibble on delicious foods and warm drinks. Ski Beech Resort is located high atop Beech Mountain NC and offers Banner Elk Skiing at a remarkable elevation. The views and excellent Banner Elk Ski Conditions at Ski Beech make it a favorite of locals as well as visitors. Ski Beech Ski Resort offers not only Banner Elk North Carolina Skiing but also snowboarding, ice skating and a small tubing hill can be found near the resort.
