HERE’S THE SKIER’S FORECAST FOR THE MIDATLANTIC AND SOUTHEAST RESORTS:
A Cold Blast Worthy of January….
For WISP, TIMBERLINE and CANAAN…. For Tuesday more light snow (80% chance) with accumulations around 1 to 2 inches, with a high around 32. The flakes continue to fly Tuesday night with lows in the upper teens and between 1 to 3 inches of additional accumulation. Wednesday morning, the light snow tapers off, with partly sunny skies by afternoon and highs in the upper 20’s.
At SNOWSHOE…. Picking up around another inch or so of snow on Tuesday with highs only in the low 20’s. Tuesday night temperatures plummet to around 10 degrees with occasional snow (80%) , another possible 2 to 4 inches. Wind chill values will be in the negative single digits. Snow showers hold on into Wednesday morning with partly sunny skies by the afternoon and highs around 20 degrees.
WINTERGREEN, VA & OBER GATLINBURG, TN -Tuesday will start off with a few scattered snow showers (40%) then temperatures warm up to around 40 with a chance of scattered rain showers. An isolated evening snow shower Tuesday night , then clouds are on the decrease and temperatures fall into the low 20’s. Sunshine is back for Wednesday with highs still lingering in the lower 40’s.
HERE’S THE OUTLOOK FOR THE WESTERN NORTH CAROLINA MOUNTAINS….
Clouds move in with snow showers developing Tuesday morning (70%). Snow may mix briefly with rain at times. Gusty winds from the west as high as 40 mph possible. Snow accumulations of 1 to 3 inches are possible. By Tuesday night another 1 to 2 inches of snow with overnight lows in the upper teens. Clouds are on the decrease by Wednesday morning as temperatures slowly climb to around the freezing mark by the afternoon. Warmer with more sunshine by Thursday as temperatures rise into the middle 40’s.
