NORTH CAROLINA REPORT –

We were watching the live cams this morning and witnessed App, Ski Beech and Sugar ALL making snow as of 8am this morning. Sugar looked like they were creating their own clouds yesterday at about 4pm as I drove by. Needless to say, conditions will be very nice today. Before I move on to reporting conditions across all of the Southeast and Mid Atlantic – only three North Carolina resorts are open today as several of the ski areas move into late season scheduling. See details below.

Appalachian Ski Mountain – 19° – 1/2” of snow. 100% Open – Great Conditions. App wants you to know about a great Appalachian Ski Mtn. Race Team Exhibition that will take place this coming Sunday. Drew Stanley wrote, “Come and see what the Appalachian Ski Mtn. Race Team is all about at their Spring Exhibition! The Appalachian Ski Mtn. Race Team tours the 4 High Country Ski Areas with races throughout the year, where racers of all abilities can compete in a relaxed, fun, low-pressure environment.”

It will take place from 9am til noon on Big Appal.

Cataloochee – 17° – They reported a dusting of new snow – Cat is closed on Mondays for the rest of the season, but will reopen on Tuesday with all 12 trails open.

Hawksnest – 16° – 1-2” of snow. They are closed all week this week as they have now entered their normal, late-season gameplan of closing during the week and opening for weekends. The plan is to see how conditions hold up and make an assessment about reopening on Saturday. We’ll keep you posted as we get to the end of the week.

Sapphire Valley – They are closed Mondays and Tuesday during this time of year. As far as we know they are planning to reopen on Wednesday.
