Expect GREAT conditions today for your post Christmas Monday skiing and snowboarding!

Brad Panovich is forecasting the "return of snow & cold" on his latest Skier’s Video Forecast! We’re having a little connectivity issue remotely from Snowshoe today but we should have that resolved a little later today and we’ll get that video posted for you guys.

Brad’s forecast was released to us Sunday night and he is forecasting northwest flow snow showers for Monday AM, Tuesday AM, Wednesday AM and he’s even saying that we could have another "BIG STORM" heading our way! Before we get to the potential of another big storm, we’re in for 1-3" of snow across the mountains of North Carolina and 6-7" around Snowshoe, WV, Canaan Valley, Timberline and up.

Late Wednesday into Thursday is what is getting Meteorologist Brad Panovich’s attention (and snow lovers as well). All of the ingredients look to be coming together to produce a big Nor’easter. We’ll keep our eyes on that and let you know what Brad’s latest forecast is on Wednesday morning. That should be interesting!

The highs forecasted for all this week look to produce some around the clock snowmaking opportunities for resorts to make snow with highs in the 20s and low 30s with overnight lows in the teens and 20s!

I am on a Holiday ski getaway of my own this AM at beautiful Snowshoe Mountain in West Virginia and we began getting snow last night as several of us made some crazy, great turns over on Silvercreek. They were making snow on terrain that was not open so for all of the trails that WERE open there were perfect conditions and no snowmaking. That made for a great time with perhaps 30 second lift lines. We made a dozen turns down the mountain and headed for our vacation rental about the time the snow hit.

This morning it is snowing rather hard and we have a good 3" of so on our rails and I’m finishing this report in a "hopefully" understandable hurry to go make some first tracks in this powder!

Man it gets easier and easier to do the snow reports now that more and more resorts are closing in on 100% open status! You could sum things up by just mentioning trails open at each resort and posting something like, "Are you guys CRAZY for not being on the snow" and leave it at that!

Expect powder conditions everywhere today, whether that powder is of the manmade variety or God’s own natural snow. Here’s some notes:

Snowshoe Mountain has already picked up 4" of new snow officially and they offer 46 of 60 trails open today and what should be AWESOME conditions. We’ll tell you in a bit! Terrain parks, tubing and all sorts of outdoor snow adventures!

Wisp Resort is reporting 3" of new snow, powder conditions on 28 of 32 trails, tubing, terrain parks, etc. Great day in McHenry.

Canaan Valley is already reporting 2" of new snow and they are making snow as well. They have 31 of 39 trail open, terrain park, tubing, ice skating and air boarding with superb conditions!

Winterplace Resort is open with a trace of new snow, and manmade powder on 21 of 28 trails, snow tubing and terrain park features.

Massanutten Resort is making snow at 25° and they are 100% open with great conditions! Tubing and terrain parks are open as well!

Wintergreen Resort is already showing 19° and open with 23 trails, terrain parks and tubing! 2-4" of snow is forecasted for Wintergreen today!

Bryce Resort is not making snow yet but will as soon as temps allow. They have dropped one open trail and now offer 7 of 8 with tubing as well.

The Homestead is making snow and open with 6 trails, tubing and ice skating!

Ober Gatlinburg is open with manmade snow and 5 of 8 trails and tubing…and ice skating as well!

Appalachian Ski Mountain is 100% open with great conditions and all three terrain parks and ice skating!

Beech Mountain Resort is open with 12 of 15 trails open, terrain park features and ice skating!

Cataloochee Ski Area is 100% open with all 16 trails, the terrain park and tubing!

Wolf Ridge Resort has backed trails open to 8 of 20 today. They had 18 trails open with last week’s natural blizzard providing the base. Those trails are now seeing focused snow making ops and they hope to open more terrain soon. They have tubing and their terrain park open as well.

Hawksnest’s tubing and zip lining, Scaly’s Tubing and Sapphire Valley Ski Area are all open. Several reporting services are still claiming Sapphire is not open yet but they have both trails and snow tubing operating.

Sugar Mountain is now open with 19 of 20 trails, their terrain park, ice skating, tubing and the kitchen sink available…with super, sweet conditions. They are making snow as well.

We’ll share some featured photos and videos with you guys a little later this afternoon once I can get back into my desktop and post to the site.
