Davis, West Virginia

As part of the resort’s ongoing expansion program, Timberline Four Seasons Resort opened a new surface lift which will allow significant additional uphill capacity.

The new surface lift is a clamp tow lift which will carry skiers and boarders some 400 feet uphill directly to the approach to the popular Bear Claw Terrain Park. It will allow terrain park enthusiasts to repeatedly enjoy the area without the necessity of riding the existing chair lifts to the top of Herz Mountain and thereby allowing more time on the snow and less time in the chair lifts. The facility will also reduce waiting time for the chair lifts.

Timberline Four Seasons Resort now has a total of four lifts including two full mountain 1,000 foot triple chair lifts and a double chair lift at the beginner’s area. The total uphill capacity at Timberline is now 5,000 skiers per hour. The announcement of the opening of the surface lift, which is completely equipped with state of the art safety devices, is part of the expansion plans at Timberline which have recently been announced by General Manager Tom Blanzy.

The expansion program has also included the widening of one of the resort’s popular trails, White Lightning, which recently hosted the regional SARA Championship ski race, and an extensive western face expansion. The resort’s western expansion includes the newly opened mile long Twister Trail and Winterhaven real estate development. Phase I of the Winterhaven development has been completed and all slope side lots in Phase I are sold. Phase II of the development will include 18 additional lots and provide exclusive slope side single family lots with completed infrastructure already in place.

In addition to the expansion of these mountain amenities, there is also an ongoing growth of other resort services. Timberline’s expansion of food and beverage department now provides daily service with expanded hours and live entertainment every weekend. There are also a growing number of winter theme weekends, new and exciting summer events and associated expanded real estate development.
