What a beautiful weekend this will be at your favorite ski area. This is likely THE BEST weekend of the season to be on the slopes for a number of reasons. The sun will be shining and temperatures will be in the 40s and near 50° Saturday and Sunday. Blue skies will make for great photo ops – HINT, HINT…send me yours! The surface conditions are the best they have been all season long. There’s MORE slopes open than at anytime this season in the State of North Carolina and on top of all of that…there’s a fair bit of natural snow laying around to keep you in the right mindset! Life is good…ski it…ride it…enjoy it!

Brad Panovich will be checking in later with the weather update so I don’t want to tread into his territory, however it looks like we’re in for a great weekend with mild days and overnight temps that will allow for snowmaking through Sunday. Monday-Wednesday looks cloudy and milder and then Thursday into next weekend it looks like we may be in for several days of light snow. We’ll let him elaborate with the technical stuff.

Ski Beech opens Southern Star – Yesterday we addressed the fact that several people have been asking about Southern Star and the OZ RUN. Southern Star is open today! That takes Ski Beech to 14 trails that are in great shape and the Oz Run can’t be far behind. They may focus snowmaking on that trail and look towards next weekend for potentially opening that popular run. With Monday through Wednesday being milder…that may put off the opening for a few more days but Oz Run may get open within a week or so.

Sapphire Valley Ski Area and Frozen Falls tube park is open for skiing, snowboarding and tubing this weekend!! Operation Hours are Friday from 5:00pm-10:00pm. They will open Saturday-Sunday from 9:00am-10:00pm
