Southeast and Mid Atlantic Skier’s Forecast for today and the week ahead!

We’re showing the forecast for today and then next weekend for Cataloochee and Wintergreen since they are planning to be closed during the week, but intending to reopen next Saturday.

Cataloochee Ski Area in Maggie Valley is reporting that they had 10” of snow from Friday night through Saturday evening and it was still snowing as they were posting that report.  According to the NWS it is STILL snowing this morning.  We’ll get an update on snow totals as soon as we can.

It’s 25° and SNOWING still in Blowing Rock and other portions of the High Country.  Look for a dusting of new snow at Appalachian Ski Mountain on Sunday…and 2-3” across the higher elevations towards Beech Mountain and the Tennessee line.

Here’s the forecast details by region…beginning with Maggie Valley today and moving North:

MAGGIE VALLEY NORTH CAROLINA – SundayMostly cloudy. Isolated snow showers this morning. Highs 39 to 44. North winds 10 to 15 mph. Chance of snow 20 percent. Saturday…Partly cloudy with a 40 percent chance of showers. Lows in the mid 40s. Highs in the upper 60s.

APPALACHIAN SKI MOUNTAIN IN BLOWING ROCK – It’s 25° and SNOWING still in Blowing Rock and other portions of the High Country.  Look for a dusting of new snow at Appalachian Ski Mountain on Sunday…and 2-3” across the higher elevations towards Beech Mountain and the Tennessee line.

WINTERGREEN RESORT IN VIRGINIA – It is about 10° milder into Virginia this morning and the forecast is milder as well. SundayPartly cloudy. Highs in the lower 50s. Northwest winds 10 to 15 mph. Monday…Sunny. Highs in the lower 60s. Northwest winds around 5 mph…Becoming west around 5 mph in the afternoon. Saturday…Partly cloudy with a 30 percent chance of showers. Highs in the upper 60s.

SNOWSHOE MOUNTAIN IN WEST VIRGINIA – Sunday
Mostly cloudy with a chance of snow showers. Snow accumulations around an inch with locally higher amounts in the highest elevations. Highs in the low 30s…Highs in the upper 20s across higher elevations. Northwest winds 10 to 15 mph. Chance of precipitation 50 percent. Monday…Mostly sunny. Not as cool with highs in the low 40s. Northwest winds 5 to 10 mph. Tuesday…Mostly cloudy with a chance of rain and snow showers. Highs in the mid 40s. Southwest winds 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation 50 percent. Wednesday…Partly cloudy. Highs in the upper 40s across higher elevations. Lows in the mid 30s. Thursday…Mostly sunny. Highs in the mid 50s across higher elevations. Friday…Partly cloudy with a 40 percent chance of showers. Highs around 60. Lows in the mid 40s. Saturday…Partly cloudy with a 40 percent chance of showers. Highs around 60. Lows in the mid 40s.
