Snowshoe Mountain, WV – Mark Glickman of Snowshoe Mountain updated us on Wednesday with the following statement, "Though we received 3 inches of natural snow yesterday and also started making snow last night, the long range forecast is mostly calling for warmer weather through the weekend. Given the weak weather pattern starting on Thursday through the weekend, we’re now projecting opening on Friday, December 9; weather permitting. "
He added, "The good news is that the forecast is calling for a shot of colder air to arrive by Tuesday (Dec 6) afternoon (temperatures in the teens) and we should have a strong snowmaking window in the middle and later parts of next week. After December 6, it also looks like we’re heading into a good stretch of winter weather for the next 8 to 14 day timeframe as well."
For this weekend, The Village shops will be open Thursday through Sunday. Cheat Mountain Pizza, Starbuck’s, Misty’s and Wildcat Provisions will be open this weekend as well. Split Rock Pool and The Big Top will also be open.
