The BIG news this morning is the snowfall that is already coming down and forecasted to continue to do so throughout the next couple of days. Today’s snowfall is the one that is supposed to provide us with the bulk of what we will see over the next few days, with some additional accumulations topping things off on Sunday and possibly into Monday.
Right now we have about an inch or slightly more at 7:00am, with
Right now there are some subtle changes to the tone of forecasters who yesterday were calling this a storm that we will be talking about for years. That seems to have been tempered to a snowstorm that will give us a good foot of snow. People into the
Right now we’re looking at snow today, tonight and lighter snow on Sunday. Highs in the 20s and lows in the teens throughout the period. Winds will also pickup tonight and gust into the 20mph range.
Normals for this time of year are 45° for a high and 21° for the low. Today we will be well below those with a forecasted high, right where we’re at now at 26°
Last year at this time we were REMARKABLY seeing the same kind of weather. Last Feb 11, 2005 we had a high temp of 25°, a low of 13° and 3” of snow! How’s THAT for history repeating itself?!?
The records for this date in weather history are:
65° for the high back in 1965
-13° for the low in 1981
…and the record single day snowfall for this date was 6” of snow back in 1983. We may set a new record today if we can pull off the forecasted amounts.
So look for great ski conditions today and Sunday…and into Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Resorts will be able to make snow throughout the period but with conditions as great as they are right now, some resorts may only make snow at night.
Until Next Time!
