Cold temps and snow for the holiday weekend! What more could we ask for? OK…I heard a few of you out there saying, "Well, about a foot of snow might be nice". Agreed, but the weather looks perfect for Sunday skiing, with snow showers forecast all day and into the evening. Accumulations could range from 3 to 4 inches in the North Carolina mountains, while our friends up at Snowshoe Resort could receive that much or more! Most of the resorts are reporting at least a few inches of fresh snow and it should stick around for today.

Lows in the teens overnight allowed for snowmaking as well. Be sure to check out the LIVE webcams for an up-close look at the phenomenal conditions.

Sunday will be a blustery day with highs in the 20s and gusty winds with wind chills dipping into the single digits, so take care to bundle up, dress in layers for extra warmth and have a great time on the slopes!

Here are a few totals based on the accumulation at reporting time. Actual accumulation may be more.

Appalachian – 2"
Cataloochee – 2" as of 9pm Saturday
Beech Mountain – 3"
Sugar Mountain – 4"
Wolf Ridge – 3"
Snowshoe Resort – 5"
Winterplace – 2"

With fresh powder and spectacular conditions, it’s a great day to pack up your gear and hit the slopes! Have fun and be safe!

Until Next Time…

THINK COLD AND SNOW!!!
