Gil Adams called us about an hour ago (hey we’ve been busy!) to let us know that he got the word from the upper management that they would be closing for the 2005-2006 season this coming Sunday, March 12, 2006 at 4:30pm.
Adams said that they have plenty of snow right now and conditions this morning were really, really nice but the management took one look at the forecast for the week ahead and compared that to skier traffic and decided to pull the plug on the season.
Like many "out there" we’re all disappointed but it is probably a good business decision if you look at the fact that the weather is supposed to remain mild with spring showers into next week. Cold temps were to allow snowmaking on Tuesday or Wednesday Night but Beech obviously didn’t want to fight the conditions and rain without the supporting cast of skier visits.
…we’ll keep you posted…because there may be others that make a similar decision.
