Good Saturday to you! It should be a great day to ski or ride at ANY of the Southeast or Mid Atlantic’s ski resorts. The forecast looks awesome for today with some mix of sun and snow in the area. After a frigid overnight that has allowed for more snowmaking, the resorts will be killing the snowmakers as temps mild up into the upper 30s and into the low 40s for today! That will make for a super day to ride at YOUR favorite ski hill on this gorgeous Saturday.
Some of the ski areas are in for some more snow late this evening and into Sunday as areas like Beech and Sugar are expected an inch or two of snow Saturday night and into Sunday morning. Tweak that forecast down about seven degrees or so and you have the forecast for the upper tier of ski areas into WV and Maryland. They too are expecting an inch or so of snow tonight.
The top story of today for some 220-250 of our closest friends is that we’re all migrating to the foot of Ski Beech for this year’s rendition of the SkiNC / Ski Beech Summit. At the last moment so many new things came together that we’re going to be involved in today – that they are just too numerous to mention. We are very thankful to ALL of the local businesses, ski shops and the like that have donated tons of items that we’ll be auctioning off with all of the money going to the Helena Jolly Education Fund. I’ll give proper credit to whomever was the first to think of doing this great bit of charity, but thanks to Blake Couch (JBC28 on the messageboard) for organizing it and keeping up with the funds for the last few months. It appears that we are in for a great day to add to the totals raised thus far. I’ll update you guys Sunday on how much we raised, and recognize the proper people for all they did to make this event a great one.
