Here’s the weather summary for areas North into Snowshoe Mountain, Timberline, Wisp, and Canaan Valley…
It’s the calm before the Big Chill, (with obligatory snow included in the mix). The region will see partly cloudy to mostly sunny skies early today with increasing clouds later this afternoon. Highs will hit the upper 30’s and lower 40’s around Snowshoe and Wisp, with a couple more degrees for Timberline, Canaan Valley and Wisp. Clouds will thicken up late tonight with snow showers moving in and temperatures falling into the low 20’s as a cold front pushes through the area. Occasional light snow will stick around Thursday with highs only in the middle and upper 20’s. Add a stiff west wind at around 15 to 25 mph. The winds shift to the northwest Thursday night, and the mercury falls into the middle to upper SINGLE DIGITS (with wind chills in the -5 to -15 range). Some leftover snow showers for Friday with clouds and sun later in the day. High temperatures will only hit the middle and upper teens.

Looking for sunny skies and upper 40’s around the High Country today. The mild weather is due to an approaching frontal system that will whip up our winds as well as our snow chances for Thursday. In the meantime clouds will be on the increase tonight. We’ll see scattered snow showers tomorrow as well as winds in the 10 to 20 mph range. This holds over into Thursday night, giving us wind chill readings in the single digits… so Bundle Up!!!! Friday dries up with sunshine returning and highs in the middle and upper 20’s.
