OPENING DAY SET FOR 18.19 WINTER SEASON AT WISP RESORT Friday, December 14, 2018

Thursday, December 13, 2018 (Deep Creek Lake, MD) – Maryland’s Wisp Resort will open for the 2018.2019 Winter Season on Friday, December 14, 2018 for skiing and snowboarding from 9am – 9pm.

Operations will continue Saturday, December 15 from 9am – 9pm and Sunday, December 16 from 9am – 5pm then regular operating hours will commence.  The Mountain Park will open on Saturday, December 15 from 10am – 7pm and Sunday, December 16 from 10am – 5pm with Snow Tubing and Mountain Coaster.  The Mountain Park will then operate Monday through Thursday, December 17 through 20 from 4pm – 8pm and continue with regular season hours over the weekend.

“We anticipate opening with nearly 60 acres of terrain on a base depth of 18” to 36” and more terrain will open as snowmaking progresses,” commented Mountain Operations Director, Artie Speicher.  Wisp Resort began snowmaking on Wednesday, November 21 and as of 6:00 am Thursday, December 13, a total of 56 million gallons of water had been pumped equating to approximately 367 acre feet of snow while running the system for 319 total hours.

Wisp Resort’s General Manager, Jerry Geisler stated, “After the past several turbulent winters (due to weather), the entire team at Wisp is determined to persevere and make this winter count.  Our Snowmaking and Grooming Crews have done an exceptional job in preparing the mountain. Over 500 employees in departments ranging from Parking, Ski Lifts, Snow Tubing, Ski Rentals, Food and Beverage, Retail, Ski and Snowboard Instruction, Ski Patrol, Mountain Hosts, Hotel and Facilities are excited to welcome guests and we all look forward to a long snowy winter.”

Standard and Premium Day pricing will be in effect with lift tickets for Friday and Sunday at $59 per day for adults and $49 per day for juniors ages 6 – 12; Saturday’s lift tickets are $79 for adults and $59 for juniors.  Rates for the Mountain Park include Snow Tubing at $34 per person per 2-hour session; Mountain Coaster at $14 for a single ride and $19 for double rider.  ALL OPERATIONS ARE TENTATIVE AND WEATHER PERMITTING.  For the most up-to-date conditions, lift operations and trail openings visit Wisp Resort’s Mountain Report at www.wispresort.com.
